Dr. Laura Alencar

Laura joined the lab in the end of 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher. She is interested in the mechanisms that trigger the expansion of vertebrates into new adaptive zones and the subsequent impact on their radiation. She is also interested in how lower-level processes might translate into signals we detect at the macroevolutionary scale. Her work in the Muñoz Lab investigates thermal evolution in vertebrates by disentangling the interaction of biological processes and underlying constraints across different levels of organization. This project is being developed in collaboration with Dr. Josef Uyeda (Virginia Tech).
